Mom had me out volunteering with her since I was five. I was babysitting at age 11. Today, my neighbor has a 16 year old niece I wouldn’t trust with my cat. In this “everyone gets a trophy for showing up” time, we’re failing to prepare children for reality. An occasional failure teaches lessons never learned in school, builds character and enhances perspective. Earth’s a tough town. It’s not all “fair and even”. The sooner we learn that, the better chance we have for success.
