This includes award-winning contributions to high priority initiatives with the Government of Ontario, extensive economic research to support transportation planning, and project management of the visionary multi-million dollar “Service Ontario” feasibility study to provide one-stop-shopping for core government services.
Motivated by an interest in individual and group dynamics, Ms. Siwak pursued specialized training in psychotherapeutic counselling, and in 1998 elected to leave her ten year career in the public sector in order to establish and build a private counselling practice. A dynamic and resourceful counsellor, Karen used a diverse toolbox of therapeutic techniques to help her clients quickly resolve lingering issues and establish clearly defined life and career goals.
As her practice evolved, her writing skills increasingly came into demand, and she was called upon to help her executive, management and professional clients create attention getting job search packages. This eventually led to a long-term engagement as a senior consultant with one of the busiest résumé writing and career coaching firms in Canada, where she was relied upon to handle the most complex client files.
Karen has become a recognized expert in the field of résumé strategy, and has been featured on Workopolis TV and Report on Business Television. This year, she is a nominee for Career Professionals of Canada’s prestigious Awards of Excellence as an Outstanding Canadian Resume Contributor.
Over the past five years, Karen has witnessed a c-change in best practices for résumé writing and career management, driven largely by the dramatically changing landscape of the web. She recognized that this called for a new model of service delivery for professional résumé services, and launched Résumé Confidential in order to provide a highly individualized standard of client care.
Karen limits herself to no more than 10 new clients each week, which provides the time needed to research and write about rapidly evolving hiring and recruitment trends. Her articles feature thought leaders in recruitment, human resources, and talent management, and cover topics such as resume strategy, career transitions and job search best practices.
Karen’s mission is to inspire, empower and animate the dreams and aspirations of those around her. Résumé Confidential clients appreciate not only the wealth of expertise that Karen has to offer, but her unwavering commitment to providing them with the state-of-the-art in customer care.
